Has anyone dealt with MIJ in Walsall? My 940 currently has a Jetex cat back system, and as is always the case with a Jetex it's dead after just under 3 years.

MIJ say they'll do a complete 3" stainless exhaust, including downpipe, for 430.00 including vat and fitting with an extra 222.00 pounds for a Sports cat. That gives me the chance to fit the C70 16T Turbo I have sitting about.

http://www.mijperformance.com/exhaust-volvo.html

So the question is does anyone know their work from personal experience or do you have alternative suggestions?

I had mine done @ Sound Proof Systems in Tipton, not a million miles away from Walsall.
MIJ always seem to be on the pricey side and happier to cater for the 'fast and furious' brigade.

Hi,

Never heard of them. But that's not to say they are no good.

What you will want to do is find out what grade of steel they would use for the exhaust (304? Stay away! 316? Ok) and similarly for the Cat.
You can get a Jetex 3" sports Cat (stainless with 100 or 200 elements) for, I think, £300. But it is a fair decent unit with 316 steel.
Linky....

Or get a price from PD Gough for the same, they fit and give a lifetime guarantee. Just outside Nottingham.
But they do use 316 steel for their systems...

Jetex are OK, but not at the price charged for them in the UK, they seem to be sold as a premium price system.

I'm kind of thinking of going for a half way house. For the moment I just need the car to work reliably. A standard car back system will be 100 quid or so, and I'm not turning up the boost on the 940 for the moment. It ran well with the 2.5" cat back jetex, where do I get something similar at sensible money?

It needs to fly down the autobahn again later this month.

Stainless steel one?

Mild steel will still rust with 1" of stove paint on it!! They rust from the inside out...

So where can you get them cheaper (including your shipping and taxes etc)?

A bog standard mild steel 2.5" cat back Jetex can be had in Sweden for 150 quid or so. There are no taxes because it's within the EU. Add some transport. That is from a re seller, so well over double that in the UK seems excessive:-(

However that doesn't really get me anywhere in getting the car back together. And I wanted to port the exhaust manifold and like a fool lent out my 1/4" shank carbide cutter set, which has now gone AWOL. Grumble.......

I dont think it was but who cares, I don't have the stainless welding wire.

just paint it and be done. I realise they rust from the inside, but they rust from the outside too dont they.

I mean come on, who really wants to spend more on a cat than an entire 3" system, it sounds a bit silly to me that does.

Hi

The thickness of the steel will also have an effect on what is heard "in cabin".
Thinner the cat or box case the greater the resonance heard in the cabin..
The noise created can completely put you off using the car!! Waste of that £150 if you don't like the car once fitted..

Yes, I realise that cost can be an issue, particularly if you don't plan on keeping the car for long.
A matter of getting the best quality for your money...

Default Ferrita stainless exhausts.

May be worth your checking www.ferrita.se

I stock their stuff for the later cars here in the UK...have done for 11 years now.

I can order specially any of their stuff for the earlier cars if it takes your fancy.

You can reckon on my price being 10 to 15% more than their home market pricing which covers my handling and freight costs and leaves me a fair margin. I also gve an unlimited warranty as long as you own the car on which it is first fitted.

Regards, Don.
