Default V50 Alarm Battery Type

Recently bought a V50 2.0D, with some known hesitation when starting - already cleaned out the EGR (I plan on doing the inlet soon too), and then read up on the alarm siren battery draining the main battery when it's on its way out. I have removed the fuse for the alarm, which has made it start a lot better now, but I'm wanting to replace the battery to get the alarm working again - does anybody know what battery I need? I've only managed to find battery types for other models, but not the S40/V50.

Not a regular viewer of this section but know there is LOTS of info on the V70 2000-2007 V70 section.
Think battery is 7.2V made up of 3 or 4 cells. Many have replaced Volvo battery with house door chimes variety, either in the alarm or in a more accessible area of the bonnet.

Cheers

Bob

On the V50 the battery is part of the siren and it isn't serviceable, you either need to replace the siren with a new one, or crack it open, replace the battery and seal it back up, bad design for servicing but good for security.

I read up a bit on people doing it on the V70, so my plan was to follow suit and cut the alarm open, replace the battery and reseal it.

Forgive me, as I'm new to Volvos and have only had my V50 for a fortnight or so!

Will the alarm siren be the same as other Volvo models?

if alarm is still a problem the s40 one can be replaced with one from allbatteries :-

NiMH industrial battery 4/V250H PL 071402 4.8v 250mAh - pack(s)
price about £10 inc delivery

if you need to alter case to fit I will be posting up a walk through soon

Default V50 2.0D Alarm location?

Trying to fix my Alarm system warning with a new battery. I cannot find the location of the siren unit. Looked under the drivers wheel arch and behind the drivers headlight but its not there...anyone here know where it is please?

It is in the plenum chamber under the windscreen on the passenger side.
