xc90 exec - sunroof & retro fit spare?
Dear all
I would like to buy a new XC90exec, I would like a sunroof but definitely want a spare. How easy would it be to reto fit the tempa spare equipment? Has anybody done it? Should I just accept I can't have both? Many thanks for your replies |

My brother has a 54 plate D5 Exec with sunroof. He fitted the spare, no problem. I can see no reason why it wouldn't fit. The winch is held in by the same 3 bolts that hold the blank in the boot floor. You just swap the blank for the winch.
However, to be honest, I would avoid the sunroof if you can. It can cause all sorts of problems with water ingress, and damage to electrical components. However that's just my opinion.

I've never had a sunroof leak on an 850, v70 or XC90. However there is a potential problem with blocked drain pipes - certainly on earlier XC90's - which can leak to soggy footwells.
Details of the fix are here - http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread.php?102526 On the other hand I'm fairly sure that the sunroof on a Land Rover Defender is designed to leak at the factory - I think they like it that way.... Older Defenders without a sunroof leak as well - so it makes little difference! |

Ex-triumph, I have a 8,5 years old freelander with sunroof, no leak. The sunroof packed up at about 5 years old thought (could open but not shut) I shut it manually and remove fuse. Never used I again! |

Most sunroofs allow water past there seals which is why the drains are there. I have a sunroof on my 04 plate which doesn't leak orhave blocked drains though I don't park under any trees.

I have heard said that the reason for not getting a spare tyre if you go for a sunroof is because the extra weight would put the car into the next tax bracket, so would it be possible to get both the sunroof and spare tyre factory fitted if you go for the new engine, as it apparently have emissions of 219 as opposed to 224 on the 185 engine?
