Default Delivery time?

Hi all,

I am new to this forum, and have enjoyed reading through the old posts.

I ordered my new XC90 at the end of July (without knowing that the factory would shut down for a few weeks in August) and it went "live" sometime last week. The dealer has told me that it will be delivered to them on 6th October.

I was wondering if anybody else has had delivery of a new XC90 lately, and whether it was on time, or late, or maybe even early?? I am currently carless, as I traded in my old car so that I could get a car suitable for my daughter to learn to drive in, and she now has that car. I just can't WAIT to take delivery of it, and I am so excited about it

Thanks

Nuala

We took delivery of ours on 4th September, by which point the dealership had already had it for almost a week. Initially they had told us it would arrive on 3rd September so in fact it arrived slightly early. We ordered at the end of May and were made aware of the August shut-down...

Oh my Lord!! That is one long wait time! Have you ordered all the bells and whistles?

I guess I will have to assume that delivery won't be in October. At least that way I won't be too disappointed if it doesn't arrive until December

Volvo shut down for 4 weeks in the summer so any orders immediately preceeding this shut down will be delayed ( mine took nearly 12 wks last year) otherwise in general it is and 8-10wk lead in .

Well, I have an update.

My dealer told me last week that my car had finished manufacturing, and was waiting to be shipped. Normally (apparently) they ship over the weekend, so it would be possible that it would arrive at the dealership this week.

Well, the good news is that it has arrived, and I can collect it on Saturday!

All in all, it took just over 9 weeks from order date to delivery date, and that included the three week shut-down over August. I have ordered a D5 SE Geartronic.

I ordered on 13 September and have been given a delivery date (to dealer) of 7 December. So 12 weeks here...

Does anyone think come re-sale it will make any difference whether the car is registered in early December or early January i.e. the car is a 2011 reg versus 2010?

I ordered on 31st August, with expected delivery late October. I'm now advised the build slot is next week, and it should be here mid Oct.

I also heard that 'accepted' orders for manual transmission cars (like mine) were brought forward where possible to get them out of the way before the change to Auto only with the uprated engine.

I was wondering that too. I am due to have a SE Geartronic delivered some time in Dec (ordered this week). I hate registering mid-month as you lose some of that months road tax (and at £550 for the first year that could be a few quid). As New Year falls on a Sat this year the 3rd is a bank holiday in lieu. That is why the VAT goes up on the 4th. If I could register on 3rd I would pay the old VAT and get a whole years road tax as well as owning a 2011 "60 Reg" car. Could be a cunning plan!

By the way...to all those of you who ordered over amonth ago, did you pay the pre-engine update price? I believe all cars since the summer recess are the new 200hp version so you could be quids in.
