I certainly paid the pre-upgrade price, and advised it will be a 185ps engine - especially as the 200ps won't be offered with a manual box.

I was told the factory will close briefly in Oct for a changeover with new engine fitted from Nov build dates. That would tie in with the fact no XC90 orders could be placed from about 5th to 14th Sept.

I ordered a 185 engine in July, but I would gladly accept the new engine! I expect that I will get the old engine, but I will let you all know when I pick it up on Saturday. SO excited!

As New Year falls on a Sat this year the 3rd is a bank holiday in lieu. That is why the VAT goes up on the 4th. If I could register on 3rd I would pay the old VAT and get a whole years road tax as well as owning a 2011 "60 Reg" car. Could be a cunning plan!
Need to work on this one then..!

Only going by the very brief chat I had with my dealer when I ordered, as long as (i) the car is physically in this country and (ii) Volvo UK Ltd has invoiced the dealer for the car before 4 Jan then (iii) the dealer can also raise an invoice to the buyer at the existing VAT rate.

Paying for a car is not connected with registering it so as long as (ii) occurs we might be OK for registering it early Jan (or any time therafter). a 2011 registration I feel sure helps by a few hundre quid come re-sale...

Drive the deal dealer did this last year. Cars could be paid for in late dec 2009 at 15% vat but registered in 2010.

Will track your dates with interest - we ordered a new SE on 17th Sept and have been told we're looking at mid-Dec so I am quite concerned it'll slip into the new VAT rate - just requires a small blip in production schedule..aarrgghh..

I'm down for 7th December having ordered on 13th September. Will be mightily hacked off if our Swedish friends let me down...

Well, I picked up my car on Saturday, and it is really fantastic! I am so pleased with it, and I can't help making excuses to drive anywhere, anytime

I said I would get back about the engine, but I don't know how to check it. I have looked at the owner's manual, and it says that the engine is 185, so I suppose that is right, but I can't say for absolute sure. I have noticed no lag when driving off, though, which is great as I was a bit worried about that.

All in all, great car!

Not sure if you have the V5 yet, it takes a little while for the DVLA to catch up with the purchase. The engine power should be quoted at para P.2 (in kW)
