'18 XC60 battery drain issue
I've had a T5 Momentum XC60 since april and been really pleased with it, except it has completely drained the original Volvo battery when stood for 6 days without use. Properly drained too - down to 8v and even a proper battery conditioner can't bring it back to life. I've fitted a replacement, but the same thing happens - I have to disconnect the battery now if I'm not using the car for more than a couple of days, which is suboptimal as I then have to leave the boot lid ajar, otherwise I can't get in to re-connect the battery.
Anyone got any ideas as to the problem before I talk to Volvo? |

Did you fit an AGM battery or just a generic one? Sounds like a warranty issue to me, the handbook says the battery should be good for up to seven years.
I discovered the hard way that there’s no battery protection on the car when I accidentally left a rear door ajar for a week which totally flattened the battery. Learned from this and bought a NOCO lithium ion jump starter thing to keep in the glovebox*. * annoyingly it fits perfectly in the hole under the boot floor, but you can’t access this if the boot is closed and the battery is flat. |

I can't see what car you have (always useful). Can you open the glovebox without power?

New V60. Yes, once you've opened the passenger door using the backup key the glovebox is fair game.
Although I suppose if you left a door ajar you'd have no issues getting in anyway. |

Nor would anyone else.
Definitely a warranty issue.

Booked in at the local dealer to see if they can sort the issue.

An update. Dropped car off at the dealer yesterday, they had it for a few hours and then called to say that they thought it was down to the non genuine towbar electrics (which was what I expected them to say, but pointed out that the voltage had dropped prior to the towbar being fitted). I was disappointed and thought I'd just get fobbed off, but credit to them they did a full software update, charged the original Volvo battery, fitted it, kept it overnight, checked it again today and they reckon the issue is solved.
I've just got it home and have checked the voltage - it's sitting at 12.4v. Will try again tomorrow and see if there's any significant drop. Fingers crossed it's sorted the issue as I really love the car. |

12,4v is ok when engine is shut off and 13,5-14v when motor is going
so if you still have above 12v tomorrow with the motor off then I think your fine |
