How long will you be with the Escort? I hope it serves you fine for your long commute to work, at least your going to save some fuel money to put towards the Volvo fund!

The boss's runabout is a T reg escort, totally rust free still and I see lots of them about in great nick and also see a lot of the diesels around. In fact an escort TD estate burnt me off in my 760 TD but when I looked at the escort's weight I wasn't surprised. Sorry I missed your original post, I wasn't on the forum much when it happened. The M11 is not a great driver's motorway, lots of parts of it I used to hate. Sorry to hear of such a blow to your life and finances but at least you are ok, as has been said

yeah mines the top range one hehe 89 bhp

i like escorts...so im happy to settle with this lesser demon hehe

yeah the m11 isnt very nice in parts at all, recently the m25 new strip has been hairy in the wet as surface water gathers, they havent got the cambers right imo

ps my insurance co are persuing the MoT company for costs because they found the rear was over-balanced after the mot work. (had new tyre fitted and balancing all round done)

WTF, an Insurance company trying to limit their costs by claiming from the MOT station?
No matter how badly balanced a rear wheel was it definately would not have caused the accident you had, an underinflated or overinflated tyre `perhaps` but not wheel balancing.
Insurance companies are getting worse, I swear it`s little America over here nowadays!

Blimey. I can't beleive they checked for the tyre being out of balance.

Hope the Escort serves you well, though not well enough for you to delay returning to us in a Volvo.

Whose to say, and I suspect the garages defence will be it was perfectly balanced at the time of leaving the workshop? A wight could have fallen off at any time or very possibly due to the impact of the crash?

Same goes for MOT's really? You could pass an MOT then once you leave the garage the first junction you come to your indicator bulb could blow - thus perhaps attributing to an accident in some way but when it was in for its MOT it was fine??

I agree that insurance companies are really clutching at straws with some claims. Anything to not to have to payout.

I cant understand why the insurance co would want to bother, they have already processed my claim, unless its financial damage limitation? :S i have a good rep with the garage too, bit worried the inusrance co might damage it

speaking to the engineer, there was 5 weights on the passengar side alloy, 2 on the rest.

PS my escort is still having trouble cold starting, also at 4k revs the turbo kicks in, ITS MORE RAPID THAN I THOUGHT WWOOOOOOO - sometimes...is there anything i can do to bring the turbo in sooner and more consistently? i think the poor starting might be glowplugs

Hardly means anything that! Having looked at one of the alloys of my brothers Audi it has nearly one side completely covered with weights. Just means either that alloy or the tyre fitted to it badly balanced. Unless they have removed the wheel and put it on a dynamic balancer then a visual inspection is worth nothing.
