The well water everyone has upstate is called "liquid rock".
I bought distilled water at $1 per US gallon (<23p./l) for a coolant flush for a lad's wedding present. His Dad's truck was added to the day's work. Alas, Dad wouldn't spring for the distilled. The lad's coolant stayed crystal orange-red clear (Dex-Cool) 'til the day he sold it. Pop's coolant was cloudy almost immediately. You get what you pay for. I thought about using the condensed water from a condensing tumble drier, but noticed it not only carried the perfume of the fabric softener but also some very fine thread particles, so instead used it on the potted rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias as we live in a permanently hard water area (SWMBO favourite flowers!) - so far it hasn't killed them but I do wonder what it would have done to a "closed/pressure venting" cooling system........never know, it might have acted like the old Bars Leaks and plugged holes as they appeared
