Does the glass part simply pull outwards to remove ?

I'm worried about it damaging something else behind. I'm not clear from the info here what the glass part bonds to.

There's a circular plastic projection on the back at the centre of the glass which clips into a circular array of clips on a motor driven steerable plate in the mirror housing. I use one of a set of plastic trim removal levers which don't break the glass or scratchy the housing. They cost about £5 or £6 pounds on ebay and often come in useful when wrongly tempted to lever something out with a screwdriver! It's a straight pull off the retaining clips once you have levered the glass away from the housing.

Yes, changed the drivers mirror glass the other week and the passenger side last year. Press the glass so faces the ground or adjust it, place fingers at the rear and pull, easy.

BOTH of my mirror glasses fell off just after the new year within days of each other. Volvo bit north of £50, so bought off ebay for £15 ish.

So looks like Volvo STILL have not resolved this issue lol

Cheers
Bob

Be interested to know how long the heating elements on your cheapo mirror last. Like you I replaced both mirrors because4, in my case, the heating elements failed after 6 years. One was replaced with a genuine Volvo glass which cost a damn sight more than £50! The other ended up being a really cheap after market version, although I had ordered what looked like an exact copy of the real thing but they sent a real cheapo and when I complained they reduced the price to £5!

That's a point Tatsfield, however at £14.99 it's a quarter of the price of the volvo mirror so I can afford to replace it 4 times before break even occurs. In truth I hardly ever use the heating elements on my mirrors or rear window finding the Airton clears the windows and usually it's condensation on the door mirrors that it's easier to wipe off with a cloth than wait for the heaters to boil it off. Is only on the frosty mornings I would use them and then I'm driving the works vehicle which doesnot have heated mirrors so it's back to scrapers and de icer.
