Shot in the Dark, F579 HMJ, Red, 340.

I have acquired my first Volvo passing my test next.

It has bought back to our family many memories of my parents first Volvo. Needless to say a photo album of the subject being the car but being cleverly disguised as a family picture.

The Volvo in question is F579 HMJ (if I remember correctly), Red, 3 Door, Cloth Interior, Petrol, Manual. This would have made an ideal classic as every last receipt was kept from the original purchase to the four prop shafts in the last few years we had it. It chewed through these because the engine mounts needed replacing and we replaced the vehicle instead. It was sold on with all the paperwork and I wonder if anybody knows if they have it in there garage or a friends garage or it never made it? I believe we lost it around 2005-6.

I have fond memories of this car and would like to know where it is now!

Congratulations on passing your test

I have checked the DVLA website for your families former 340 but the registration number you have supplied comes back with no details.
I played around with variations on the number portion and these are indeed Volvo, can you double check your supplied number?

There's a 3 door red 340 near me and I think it's an F reg.

Next time I see it I'll let you know.

There is a red 340 running around in Telford local to me when I see it again I will clock the reg No.

Number is appears correct to me, shows up on Cartell as a 340GL. (www.cartell.ie) It's not on www.mywheels.ie. It's not on the MID.

It's odd that it is not on the DVLA site. One explanation might be it is currently registered under a different reg?

I have known cars to randomly disappear from the DVLA database after...dare I say it...scrappage. Not the normal result, but I have seen it. Fingers crossed that's not the reason!

James am |I right in thinking you have a register of all the existing 300 series cars? Is it on there?
