If you mean the cowl and stalks all move up or down a few degrees, mine has done the same for the past 6+ years.
Looked for a missing screw, but couldn't find anything.

This is a known issue on the X40's the 'monkey metal' clamp around the steering column, that supports the switches, wears and becomes loose allowing slight movement in the switch cluster.

There are several threads on here detailing cures, but basically remove the upper and lower cowl and 'jam' a self tapping screw between the metal clamp and the steering column, A simple fix for an annoying issue.

^^^^Need todo this on mine as well, and get the bulbs changed in the switches, had them sitting on the todo-shelf for a while now.

My day was a little more productive, oil-changed not done that many miles, and last done about 6 month ago but it was getting dark so trying to clean the system out.

Also change the rear calipers and pads, pads didn't need done but may as well with the new calipers going on always a good idea, had a couple issues had to pack everything up and jump in the 940 to get a 9mm spanner, no idea how I didn't have one and reminded myself how annoying bleeding brakes is!

Not convinced that got all the air out but they work, and more importantly the handbrake works on both sides now, it just manged to get through the MOT on one side and adjusted the lever end so its not up my my ears when on.

Going to re bleed next weekend once got some better fitting hose, pedal feels alright but could be better.

(rebuilt calipers myself including changing pistons, striping and cleaning the handbrake mech........somebody call skyship a doctor )

Well, it turns out I have holes. Under the back seats, above the fuel tank. No idea how or why it would rust there, but there it is. Gonna have to plate it.

I also have some rust on the sills. One side will need a plate, but the inner sills look okay.

Several major suspension components are shot. I daren't think about the cost yet.

There are a couple of anti rattle foam pads glued to the top of the fuel tank and then sandwiched between the tank and under body of the car. These hold water and rust through the body. There is no under body protection above the tank.

Good to hear Kieran is keeping well, I miss him.
Good choice with the C70, I bought mine just over 12 months ago and it is the nicest Volvo I have ever owned. We are off to the Isle of Wight in it for a long weekend in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to getting the car out and hopefully having the top down. Remember me to Kieran when you see him, his uncle lives not far from me.

Been doing a few jobs on the T4 this week and in for its MOT today, passed with a few advisories namely rusty discs, play in an anti roll bar linkage and a couple of dubious rusty areas. This was the reason for giving it an MOT as I needed to know if she was worth fixing up and will now look at getting the rear arch replaced and painted. Been driving an X Type for the last few months and have really missed the old gal.
