Default Loose AC evap tube, how to replace/refit?

Newbie here, discovered the all my footwells were wet and started the process of trying to find the source. It's definitely water and not coolant.

I normally drive around with the heating controls set at auto.

I don't have a sunroof (RDesign '11) so that was easy to tick off the list.

I had a look at the windscreen scuttles and can't see anything but I'm still looking for instructions on how to access properly.

I removed all the carpets (surprisingly easy compared to the videos) and put them in the shed, used a wet/dry vac to remove the water and had a good look around.

I found the AC drain elbow, wasn't convinced it was the problem as there is some dirty staining above it, but went to start to remove it, to be able to clean when the end away from the plug appeared.

Pretty sure it wasn't connected as there was no resistance. How can I refit it? I can't see where the end fits or how to get there.

I guess it explains the water and the stains being higher than the elbow.
