Default 2008 XC70 intermittent loss of power

My 2008 XC70 D5 145,000 miles is suffering from intermittent power loss, I guess it’s going into limp mode although no warnings come up on the dash. Car drives fine again if you you turn it off & leave it for a while. Changing the fuel filter & cleaning out EGR hasn’t fixed it. After reading many posts on this problem next on the list are MAF sensor or turbo inlet pipe.
Did Volvo change the Turbo inlet pipe on the mark3 Volvo V70 / Mark 2 XC70 or is it still a problem part?
If when my car is running with the loss of power will disconnecting the MAF be able to rule that out?
I am going to run the codes when my new cheap reader arrives but I don’t hold out massive hope as the last time my local garage plugged it in it only had EGR faults stored.

I'm experiencing the identical on a 155k v70 have not done fuel filter yet.

But what you are describing is identical to me. So keeping any eye on this thread.

Please be kind enough to let us know if you have any luck.

Same issue here too! Will keep you both updated. I’ve cleaned out my EGR too!

Edit to add, I’ve not checked the EGR stepper motor yet, so see if this isn’t moving the EGR Valve as it should.

Have you had a scan any codes come up for you?

My OBD2 reader (Carista) turned up yesterday and as I suspected it’s not throwing up any codes so I’ve bit the bullet & booked it into my local Volvo Indy to see if their software picks anything up or if not see what their best guess is.

Was there a reason you chose this reader over the VIDA?DiCE set up which would have read your '08 car to the same standard as a dealer could? If you own a laptop the Volvo reader is exceptionally good value for money and the best diagnostic kit you could buy.

You might also try the Car Scanner ELM OBD2 app for Android and iPhone.

Choose profile 'Volvo Platform3 2008+' in Settings /Connection /Choose profile (other Volvo profiles are available).

Then you get access to over 180 live parameters for engine, DPF filter, battery, brakes, etc. This app will scan for errors, too. Car Scanner should work with Carista Obd2 dongle without problems.

2 main reasons for going with Carista, it was cheap & came recommend by friends with different makes of car who said it worked well for them. Also I’m not great with computers (have got a Mac gathering dust somewhere) but am fairly competent with phones/iPads.
Thanks PIOTREK - will give a “car scanner” a try tomorrow.
