I find that if I have my (large) mobile phone in my trouser pocket, and the phone happens to be behind the phone , none of the car locking means will work.

That could be the problem - I'll give it a go over Christmas and see if I get a better response rate

So having tried to keep key fob in pocket away from mobile all over festi8ve period I can confirm 100% success rate with remote doors, and boot. Looks like it is the phone/fob combo that causes issues. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, that happened with me as well. Samsung Galaxy Note series phone in the same pocket as the car keys.

I guess it interferes with the signals. Key could not be detected till I removed the phone from that pocket

Yes mobiles can interfere with the signal from the Remote Control Key there is a warning in the manual about it :

"Interference

Remote control key functions for keyless starting and keyless locking/unlocking can be disrupted by electromagnetic fields and screening.

NOTE
Avoid storing the remote control key close to metal objects or electronic apparatus, e.g. mobile phones, tablets, laptops or chargers - preferably no closer than 10-15 cm."
