Hi Phil, I’ve got the same annoying problem. To clarify, what did you get fixed? Did you replace the whole alarm module? Or one of the batteries?

That price will be for a new alarm siren. Volvo won't just replace the battery, even though its usually the battery in the alarm siren that's at fault. Although, in saying that, sometimes it can be the circuit board in the alarm module. Just putting a battery in an alarm siren with a corroded circuitry won't fix that. If the alarm module looks corroded inside, there's no point just putting a battery in. If it looks okay, then a cheap battery may do the trick.

I was charged £196.50 + vat for the new alarm module complete.

At a main dealer? By "complete", you mean fitted too?

Don't assume you have the same problem.. you need to get them to read the fault codes to indicate what YOUR fault is . It could be one of many other causes.
