RE: Buying Advice on V70 T5 or AWD R
The brake discs are reccomended to be changed every 50,000miles. Curbing is a common problem and you will cringe when you curb a wheel.
Keep looking though. I spent nearly 4 months looking for the right R. |

Hi Chris, I assume you may have already seen that there is a Laser Blue in the For Sale section, check it out, if its in your price range I'm sure it could be the one!

Thats the only thing that puts me off. In every other respect its perfect. Went to the local dealer today and drove a V70 T5 SE (Y '01) very nice (manual as well) but to be I prefer the older shape. The missus even liked it and its very rare for us to agree on cars! But it just wasn't the one have set my sights on an AWD R or an R. Probably just being a perfectionist! Thanks for all the advice! Hi Chris,
If you decide on an R AWD you will have to go for an early example as the newer ones were only sold in 5 speed Automatic form. I reckon you have made a good choice with the Classic shape V70 R. I do hope you end up getting an AWD model as its got great road holding and gives you a fantastic sense of security in bad weather. Let us know how your search goes, it took me 18 months to find a car I was happy with! Patrick 2000 V70 R AWD Laser Blue

You could also consider the 2.5/2.4 Low pressure turbo models.
Neary as fast as the T5 but a lot cheaper to run. |

Any car that comes close to a T5 must be good.

RE: Buying Advice on V70 T5 or AWD R
Rang a few autotrader ads today. All the cars seem to have been driven by Han Solo (more miles than the millenium falcon). One car had 170000 and the dealer reckoned it had two lady owners (no offence to meant). He still wanted 8K for it!
I'm going to follow the advice and enquire about the blue AWD R on the for sale section. If any one has any suggestions of where to find a good car please let me know. Thanks Chris |
