V60 - downsizing Wheels
Hello all
I wanted to ask if anyone had done the above? My V60 which I do love came with 20" wheels and lowered "sport" chassis. I cover a lot of miles (circa 25k/year) and have read that downsizing wheels can: 1) increase fuel efficiency. 2) increase ride comfort. 3) decrease tyre replacement cost (can confirm - 17s or 18s are £30-50 cheaper). 4) decrease ride handling (I drive in eco half the time so not sure this would even be noticeable). Edit: 5) decrease road tyre noise at higher speeds. Has anyone had any experience of downsizing (2-3"s) and whether or not it was beneficial? Ideally I'd want to go down to 17s. Could anyone see any potential issues with this? Thanks all!

You should be ok with 17" on a D4- just pay attention to rim width/offset:

I may want to do similar in the future. I've got a '67 plate D5 V90 R-Design Pro, on 20's, and I feel every bump and hear a constant humming on all but the smoothest of roads. Interested to hear how you get on. Good luck.

OK, feeling smug. Went for a Momentum on 17" wheels deliberately. Doing 25k miles pa, comfort is better than looks, and 17's are comfortable. The stupidest vehicles going are rangerovers on huge dustbin lid wheels with the thinnest rubber band tyres. Does make you wonder..............

As of this month new V60s are no longer available with 17" inch wheels, 18" is now the smallest size.
