Default etm?? s60 2.0 t s 2001

Recently bought a volvo s60 2 litre turbo 2001 with 103k on the clock. When idling it fluctuates and it lacks power it doesn't feel like a 180 bhp car. It's had an induction kit fitted it looks low quality and it sits where the original airbox should be. Could it be maf related aswell as surely not enough airs going through the filter. I unplugged the maf and let it tick over but it idled worse it was spluttering but never stalled. I know the mafs easy to replace so I might clean or replace it altogether but whats the best way to diagnose etm failure and am I best replacing the whole etm or could I just replace the sensor on the side of it. Any input appreciated. No history of the etm ever been replaced either
