V70 nearside door mirror and casing
2008 V70
Clobbered my n/s door mirror on a wheelie bin as I drove past. Grrrr...the mirror broke and the housing fell apart. Will have to investigate tomorrow as it's dark and peeing down, but does anyone know how it all fits and clips together; and what's likely to be damaged? Everything to do with the housing is wobbly but the base auto-folds on door locking as normal. Thanks all John |

May I suggest you grit your teeth, for you are about to be royalty shafted.
When my off side mirror got clouded by a numpty going 5 he other way the bill came to £350 just for the bits, agreed mines an xc70 bigger mirror but it went a bit lie this. Main frame broken, £156. This was the bit that caused it to flop around in the wind though just like yours still folded when locked. Glass £64 from volvo £15 eBay. Colour coded clip on back z £84 Indicator lens £25 As it was in bits I fitted new puddle light and indicator bulbs and these were £2 each. All prices plus vat. and 3 years old now. From memory the only bit that needed tools was the mainframe, all the rest clipped in. Took about an hour if memory serves fortunately my motor survived or that was another 100 ish. Paul. |

V70 door mirror (cont...)
OK, thanks for the replies.
However, looking at all the bits in daylight, all seems intact apart from the mirror. If I try to reassemble it and it all goes together (with broken mirror), is it easy to unclip it all again to replace the mirror? Does anyone have an exploded diagram of the assembly? Long shot I guess, but worth a try! Cheers John |

The mirror can be changed by itself with no dismantling of the housing. I used a plastic trim removal tool to leaver behind the glass/frame and it pops off the mounting ring on the motor.

V70 door mirror housing
Sounds good, Paul; thanks
Finally stopped raining so will have a shot at reassembling the Chinese puzzle. Fingers crossed there aren't any broken bits that matter! Onwards John |

V70 nearside door mirror casing
Hooray, it att snapped together a treat, once I’d worked out where to hold which bit where before the final push!
Just need a new glass but will try a stick on first from thewingmirrorcompany.co.uk. Thanks to all who answered and to FRFVolvo for their help! John |

Don't bother with a stick on. It's so easy to change the glass that even I did it! Buy a cheapo on ebay for about £15 complete with heaters.
