Default Volvo on Call 2018 V90

Hi All, I hope you don't mind me resurrecting this thread to check my understanding of the Volvo on Call functions of my soon-to-be-delivered new V90.

I don't plan to connect the car to the internet, whether via phone tether, SIM or bluetooth. Can I still get the non-app parts of On Call without being internet connected? For example, will the SOS button function work?

Thanks.

You will Sir.
You will also be able to communicate with the car via the app should you choose as the car has an inbuilt hidden sim.
Enjoy your car when it arrives and let us know how you get on.

Thanks, that's good news. (By the way I am female, not a "sir"!) Interesting, I wonder what network they use. Cheers Considered1.

Hi Sorry , I believe it is the same as the emergency mobile network, whichever one it can pick up I guess.
best regards

I'm sure the SOS functionality of the On-Call svc works without a SIM. My Uncle used to have it on his V70 & no-way would he have purchased a SIM card.

I've got On-Call on mine but also have a data sim as I use it to provide Wi-Fi etc when on the move.

The VOC function uses a hidden built in SIM, you only need your own SIM if your car has that as an option which allows incar Wi-fi hotspot, Senus Internet functionality, etc.
