Default 2.4D EGR Signal Frequency Incorrect

Hi all,

Getting the fault code ECM-p040938 recurrently and it's claiming that the EGR signal frequency is incorrect

I've had the pipes to the EGR and cleaned it and it wasn't awful to start with. It's happier for a cleaned valve though.

I've checked VIDA but it just takes me through checking if the fault code goes away

Any input is appreciated

Does anyone have any insight into this?

EGR seems to be moving under the control of VIDA/DICE but when it's thrown it's toys out, the car goes into limp mode as well and feels really down on power

I think I managed to solve this in the end.

The black box in front of the EGR is the position sensor and has two prongs going into the motor and a button that gets pushed in and out. Replacements were £150 and the part itself is easy to remove. (4 screws but you need to loosen the throttle body, which is 4 bolts and the air box off). I decided to try cleaning it all with contact cleaner and re-installing.

Car is now pulling much better and generally happier. Time will tell if it lasts.
