If not, there certainly is no shortage of tuning companies that do remaps.

It'd have to be a lot more than a 5p/litre gap to wipe out any advantage. Going on my fuel consumption to date, it costs me 9.2p per mile to fuel my D5. It cost me 20.9p per mile to fuel my T5. Diesel would have to be £2.09 per litre for it to cost the same to run my D5 as my T5. (Assuming petrol stayed at 91.9p/litre) So thats a £1.18 difference per litre.

www.volvotuninguk.com > (www.rica.nl) I've dealt with both companies before, both of whom can advise on upgrades. Warranty would be affected for sure, but both Stuart @ SW and Adam @ VolvoTuning will advise further. Unfortunately, one of the other main competitors in the tuning field (TME) don't currently offer a D5 upgrade (not sure why, it's probably the biggest Volvo tuning market out there at the moment!?)

I get frustrated because all my mates run diesels, and they all say "OMG my car does twice the MPG that yours does, its crap" and this annoys me because they cant see its false economy. They pay loans and other things on their cars whereas i dont, and then they pay more for their diesel, so its false economy really but i guess if situations are equal then you have a point. It just gets me when everyone thinks diesel is like the cheapest ever solution No offense meant

To be honest, I would have preferred the S60 T5. It would have cost me the same to insure, nearly the same to tax and would have cost me about £500 less to buy. But I do 12,000ish miles a year in this car many of which are in France where diesel is only 75-80p a litre and petrol above £1 so I decided to go for the D5 as I intended keeping the car for a few years and it'll save me £1200 odd per year in fuel. I can't quite get used to the sound of the diesel engine, though! I still hanker after a T5 S60 to be honest. If everything goes to plan, my girlfriend will have my S60 in a couple of years and I'll get an S60R or V70R. (And probably a £200 Fiesta diesel to go to work and back in!).

I live 3...........! Most of my miles are done outside of the UK. From this year on, my mileage will be a lot less as I'll transfer a large block of my mileage onto one of the 850 T5's.
