V60 d5 mpg
Hi all
I'm looking to trade in my S40 2.0d and buy a manual V60 D5 2012 with 53k on the clock. Can you help me out with a couple of questions... What sort of real world mpg figures do you get from your manual d5? (212bhp) And are there any common issues to look out for?

Around town with lots of starting/stopping she'll give 38-40mpg. Motorway cruising at 70mph you'll get a steady 50mpg.
Regards issues, at that mileage, nothing in particular. Should idle relatively smoothly, any flaring suggesting a dirty injector or two. But this shouldn't really present itself at that age. Check to see if the Aux belt and tensioner have been replaced, this is very important! Enjoy! Last edited by AndyB06; May 17th, 2016 at 11:46. |

Aux belt tensioner? Are you sure? Also confirm the 50mpg highway cruising.

Thanks!
I'd have thought the mpg would be a little higher at motorway cruising.. Must be around 35-40 for town driving then?

stable 36mpg for me, avg. speed according to trip computer is 32mph, town/country ratio is 1:1
2011 D5 auto SE Lux @ 205bhp with 18" wheels, xenon headlights always on, 70k miles on the clock already in a long journey (london to land's end and back) it reached 42mpg (still behind mfg's 46mpg) driving a bit more enthusiastically than average (probably) enabling AC makes no difference to mpg cannot imagine these 1.9t (1870kg according to v5c) to be any economical |

S60 AWD D5: I get over 50 when cruising at 80kph, average 45 for mostly highway commute. Air-conditioning makes about 10% difference depending on how hard it is working. 235/45R17, continental contact sport 3, tyre pressure 40 psi.

So I've done just over 300 miles since I reset the average.
Probably around 180 motorway and the rest stop start commuting traffic and I'm getting just over 44mpg. Not too bad considering my right foot isn't what I would call light. After the motorway trip it was over 50, with a dpf regeneration on the way back which really does kill the fuel economy!
