rear axle, trailing arm
Almost every guide I've read on buying an Amazon mentions the trailing arm on the earlier models rusting and how they are all probably replaced by now......Guess who still has the original type.....
I was getting the tyres done today and took the oppertunity to have a look. They seem fine, solid and no holes, though ALL of the bushes could do with being replaced. So, if anyone has a set of the newer type cluttering up their garage.....please let me know, (I'm assuming of course they are interchangable...) Cheers Gerry

The early pressed type can't be swapped over with the tubular ones. Sounds as if yours are OK. They are hollow and can be filled with Waxoil if you block the bottom drain hole. The front threaded part that goes through the big bush can rust so is worth checking it.

http://volvoklassiekeronderdelen.nl/...64&language=en I know there are also zinc plated ones, that will last forever. If they don't sell them , you can try www.nordicar.nl Both companies speak English and send overseas, as far as I know. |
