Default V90 headlamps misted up

Hi,

Just bought a 3 year old V90.

When I picked it up I noticed the lower half of both headlights were misted up with condensation. The dealer said that was totally normal and it is just because it hadn’t been used for while and would burn off after the lights had been on.

Well after a good hour+ with the lights on and it’s still there.

Is that normal?

Give it a while , they have probably blasted it clean with a pressure washer , its not a design fault it is vented not sealed .. it would dry out in an hour on a sunny day .

Thanks, you don’t happen to know where the vents are located, will check they aren’t blocked.

Might get a hairdryer on it tomorrow to see if I can burn it off.

There is mention of this in the Owners Manual, I've had it occur a few times and it has always cleared.

just drive around with the dip headlamps on, it will dry out in your everyday use of the car with the air flow , you wont find blocked vents on a volvo ...

A hairdryer will melt them , likely to be well over £1000 each

The problem with LEDs is they hardly generate any heat unlike halogen bulbs, a bit of gentle warming of the surface of the headlamp with a hairdryer shouldn’t melt anything if I’m careful.

I have found mine mist up in certain weather conditions, it is quite normal and as has been suggested just carry on as normal and it will disappear vey quickly, especially given more favourable (ie less damp) atmosphere.

As Clan says, they WILL melt if you use a hair drier on them, I tried that on my wife's watch to clear condensation and the Crystal 'glass' melted, cist me a new watch.

Thanks, I did try earlier with gentle head touching the plastic to make sure it wasn’t getting too hot, but it wasn’t clearing them anyway so gave up after 5 minutes.

The LEDs in a volvo headlamp have quite big finned heatsinks , give it a week of normal driving around and watch it disappear .
