Ta Mike. I've got a few switches that'll do the job, something to do after the tank de-rust, more exhaust welding, ... etc ...

Is that £45 just for the key blanks, or including the ignition switch too?

Default hairyapple sez "Do you mean 45 pounds for a key blank?"

Tell me that is a misprint. My local Connecticut locksmith (licensed professional not a hardware store) made up keys for my Amazons at about $3.50-$4.00US each. I thought that was a rip off, but he said the blanks are priced according to demand, in this case low demand=low rate of manufacture=high price, but it sounds like a bargain now. If anyone wants some keys made, send me an original key plus cost and post and I'll get them done for you. The new keys don't look like the original but who cares.

Just to clarify - I refer purely to the switch's appetite for bending / snapping keys.

Phew, glad to hear it!!!! Were they original Volvo blanks? I have the original Volvo key for mine somewhere but only use new keys.

BTW for anyone else who needs new keys cut, if you're not fussed about having the exact original blank, there is one (iirc for a modernish Peugeot?) that does the job very well. I had a whole load cut a few years ago at a local locksmiths after a major key twisting incident (almost snapped but not quite...) & am still on the same key since. Anyway, the markings on the blank is as follows:

"ilco ITALY ORION" on one side & "NN23." on the other.
