Default removing metal trim on inside of doors?

just wondering how to remove the metal trim panel at the top of the front doors, I want to repaint one of mine, I have undone the 4 screws which has loosened it, but it seems caught under the 1/4 window. do I have to dismantle the 1/4 vent to get the trim panel out?

I get them off by pulling them outwards (paralel to the glass & in the direction of the door opening!) and upwards at the same time. Its a little bit of a nack, but I don't remember there being anything other than the 4 screws in the door shut area holding them on.

All the best,

Gordon

Yep, I can confirm, only 4 wee screws, out and up at the same time. The "flange" is very small under the quarterlight window..

Well its all down to personal experience but i've always had to loosen the quarter window to get the straight trim out. Its very flimsy and once bent its useless. If you take off the chrome plate from the front of the 1/4 light that might give you enough play to bend to quarterlight inwards as you wiggle out the trim. otherwise you also have to loosen the bolts at the bottom of the quarterlight (inside the door) to enable you to lift it slightly.

Hi Mike,

I was assuming DD's car is an Amazon. From what I remember the top scraper trim on the 1800 is attached to the top door card with metal tabs?, but the Amazon has 4 screws in the door shut area holding a metal trim in place.
