To be fair, in most normal road driving scenarios you won't notice a difference between 2 or 3 nut mounts on a 2-point strut bar. That being said, if you're fabricating one and the difference in material cost is marginal, why would you not tie in all the mounts for the improved design?
A 3-point strut bar would be overkill for road use, in the majority of case. So yes, you are right in that there are different levels of stiffness attainable and it is possible to choose a level, so to speak. The biggest impact here though would be wall thickness of the tubing you use and the strength of your welds. 0,5mm wall tubing will do almost nothing, a solid bar the complete opposite.

My 2002 C70 came with the strut brace fitted when i bought it i always just assumed that they were there on all c70s standard.
cant imagen it not being there, car must be very bendy without it. I will add i don't mind taking all measurement's of it and a picture if your are going to fabricate one, just let me know. Last edited by aaronturbo; Jan 27th, 2021 at 09:50. |

I bought one years back on Ebay (circa 90 quid) and never noticed any difference. However, I've never considered a 1750kg Volvo estate, to corner like a MK2 Escort (where my teeth were cut, amongst others) but the build quality, comfort and straight line grunt is something else.
