Good luck with the new car. Beware! Volvology gets into your blood! I always reckoned that over the 9 years and 250,000 miles that I owned my wonderful old V70 I expended so much blood, sweat and tears that were the car to be given a blood test it'd probably prove that we shared the same DNA.
My first Volvo was a 1986 740 - we were expecting our first child, and we wanted something "safe". 28 years and more than a dozen Volvos later - well, we still own two Volvos, and I don't suppose we'd seriously consider anything else. Being a regular visitor to these pages will be very useful. You'll be assured of a warm welcome, and no matter how obscure the issue, someone here will have an answer. I've owned a 940 saloon, and my present car is a 1997 S90 - so the same basic car but with a 6-pot version of the white-block V70 engine. Yes, Volvos do go wrong, but from experience, especially models from the mid 1990's, they are hugely robust and reliable. Even with a fault the car will still get you home safely, added to which they're pretty DIY-friendly. And if you do need professional help it's surprising but they're not especially expensive - provided you steer clear of main dealers of course. But if you've bought wisely, and picked up a car that's been sensibly maintained you've probably just acquired the best car you'll ever own. Cheers Jack |

Wise words, cheers.
Well, everything so far seems good, well maintained, interior appears in really good condition, pulls and stops as it should...mileage says 47k...surely that can’t be right!? Is there a way of finding out? Certainly, the MOT record online, which only goes back as far as 2008 suggests that this car only moved a couple of thousand a year. |

Belated welcome and happy new car day. Hope the sun is shining where you are to make the day.
You have made a good choice both on picking a 940 and this forum. Don't hesitate to ask if you have queries. Someone on here will almost certainly have tackled the problem previously and will save you time, money and frustration. Look forward to pics. Cheers, LeeP |
