2 worn out X HS6 - 1-3/4 SU carbs + manifold wanted
Am looking for a pair of carbs to rebuild as a little project. Worn out condition ideal, so long as they are rebuild-able. Will also need a manifold to fit a B18.

Have you got Facebook? Know a guy with a pair of SUs he's looking to sell. Will PM his details. I bought from him and had no issues.

I have a pair of HIF 6's, and a manifold from a P1800. The carbs are in good nick, but will need re-jetting, as came from a Jaguar.

Did you find your carbs, if not I've go a manifold and two three hole H6(AUD232) that I just did a functional, not aesthetic, rebuild on.
I had been using them on my 64 but found a pair of two hole AUD93. It's a little of coals to Newcastle however so the shipping won't come cheap. |

Hi JG, Many thanks, but have managed to secure a pair. Was actually looking for a pair that needed rebuild, as a little project.

That's great, have fun, for me I found it best to do one at a time so you have a reference for reassembly, albeit a mirror image one. SU's instructions are great, essentially reassemble in reverse order of disassembly. It proved a bit of a mind game.

Thanks JG. There are some good vids on YouTube to help. There does seem to be some slight movement in the butterfly shafts, so am presuming I'll need to drill out and replace the bushings. There's a great video showing how to do it, but you need a drill press, which I don't have, so I'm reckoning on sending them off somewhere to do that.
Any words of wisdom gratefully received! |
