I'm glad you asked that question Steve as I thought the same thing, but my knowledge of these cars is basically non existent, so I kept my mouth shut 🤐😁😁

It does look as though just the rear bushing housing has broken though.

From looking at the photos I would say the delta arms are ok, just the bushes need replacing. However, you and the garage have seen them close up so will know better than someone studying a photo.

Even if replacement delta arms are needed it is imperative that new bushes are fitted - four in total. Putting old arms on with the old bushes is just asking for trouble - vehicle safety and handling and chances are, come next mot, it will fail for worn bushes and you will be back to paying the garage to dismantle everything to replace the bushes. The bushes are a service item, especially given the age of them now.

Once everything is back together you will need a four wheel alignment as the rear tracking will be altered. The tracking being adjusted by moving the bushes.

Do you think 4 new bushes are necessary even if the entire rear axle.is being replaced with the existing bushings for the new unit all in place?

Short answer, yes.

I assume the replacement arms are second hand and have been removed from a breaker. If so, the maintenance of the donor car will have been skimped otherwise it is unlikely to be a breaker. Given the likely age/condition of the new bushes it is false economy to consider using them. As I said previously, when the bushes fail in the future the rear end has to be dismantled to replace them so you will be paying the garage to redo the work that they are doing at the moment. You need to have the four wheel alignment doing, once back together and would also need it redoing when the new bushes are fitted in the future - so paying twice for that. Also, much easier to replace the bushes whilst the arms are on the bench, than struggling under the car.

Mate what condition is the other side in, will it be next, keep you money for that

Don't spend money on unnecessary stuff
if the parts you bought are good enough
with the mechanic willing to install them

Stay away from people being frivolous

What do you mean? The entire rear axle is getting replaced, I've purchased this.
