Default Sold a differnt spec car than what the car actually is!!

Hi all Im new here and only registered recently when I bought my xc90 a couple of weeks ago.

I have basically been sold a SE from a volvo dealership, but today I received my selekt paperwork about my S. Confused, but thought it was a mistake.

Im out polishing my car with my Mrs sitting in the drivers seat and she said there is a little tag inside this door that says trim S.

Ive no idea what to do about this. But I do feel cheated. I actually said the the sales man what spec is this one, he said SE, I said oh I thought all SE's got electric seats. He said no. So thought he knows best he's selling the things. Its got leather, sat nav, xenon, which is all nice but as resale they are gonna mean diddly squat surely.

Just thought Id see if anyone had any advice!!
Thanks!

What is down on the paperwork of the sale voucher itself??

There is residual value difference from an S to SE spec vehicle - even if the original S has been up-spec'd with optional extras to almost an SE. At the end of the day it is an S and not an SE.

I would take the car back and complain at the very least, I would also be asking for the difference that a S and an SE would be sold for and on a fairly new XC90 - would expect that to be at least £1000??

Definitely worth persuing I would say.

I'm with SonyVaio on this one. Check the sales invoice to see what spec XC90 you have been sold, and go back and complain to the Senior Sales person and state clearly what you want them to do about it. At least then you have made your feelings known to the dealer. Especially important when you come to sell this on.

Agreed, take it back and complain. What you've been sold isn't what was advertised, pretty clear cut

I would do a little research first before you go charging in. On online databases my car always comes up as a sport when it's an SE. Had the insurance change it but it didn't affect the premium.

Parkers list the different specs for the different trim levels, not sure how accurate it is though. Would be better to try and get brouchers for that model year.

Take it back. I imagine with the VIN Volvo UK can confirm EXACTLY what the trim level is. And then the fighting starts.

I imagine that the VIN will confirm...but usually there is an exclusion on the advertisement that the information is to all efforts correct or something along those lines they will highly try this on.

If however the sales guy said it was an SE then definitely SOGA (goods not as described) then there really are no grounds for get out tbh.

Check your paperwork and see what spec the Dealer has claimed the car was when he sold it, if it says SE then you have a very good case either for rejecting the car and getting a full refund, or receiving compensation for the different future value of the car. If I recall correctly, there was a similar tale on this forum a year or two ago, when someone bought a car from Mill in Newcastle and ended up with a different spec car than he thought he was getting; in that case I seem to remember him exchanging his car for the one he thought he was buying in the first place.
You haven't said whether the car was a new one or not, if it was new then you have a very clear cut case; if not then it is a little more complicated because mileage and condition come into the equation, but if you were led to believe that you were getting an SE and did not then the salesman has mis-sold the car.
