460 TLC and a Very Good Home Needed
It is with some regret that I make this post, but time, money and mainly space are in short supply. I've had this 460 since February 2012 and would even today happily drive anywhere in the country with no doubt that I would get there and back. However its time for us to part company, so here goes
Details - Volvo 460 2.0 CD (last time I checked only 32 left registered in the UK) Registered Aug 1996 (facelift model white indicators) Color - Grey. (Looks like dark blue metallic in sunlight) MOT - Feb 2016 Mileage - 54-55,000 still in daily use Good : Mechanically very sound, no unexpected bumps, knocks, ticks, whines or smoke from engine or transmission. Dash, dash lights, dials, gauges and dash computer all fully functional. Comes with Paddy Hopkirk roof bars, well used, mainly on the 440 I had before this but functional. 4 Electric windows and 2 mirrors fully functional (no sunroof) Clean and good condition grey leather interior (drivers seat has surface cracking on right side from getting in and out (no tears or rips) Very clean carpets as always covered by the included Volvo plastic foot well protectors. Central locking works but see below re alarm Aircon ice cold and no leaks Has a set of wheel locks good ones not cheap nasty ones 3 former keepers 4 good tyres on Alloy rims 185/55/15 (less than 4,000 miles since changed - 15" spare unused original (?)) 4 14" Alloys and 1 14" steel spare no tyres Second hand rusty when I got it, never fitted to the car, Towbar with some messy wiring included. Loads of torque great engine. Bad : 2 sets of keys and keyfobs work - but if you use them to lock the car they arm the alarm and it triggers, I know it can be reset because when I got the car it was as it is now the siren unplugged and you have to lock with the key then unlock with the fob to disarm the immobiliser - shortly after getting the car I managed to get it working by reading loads and following reset procedures, two and a half years later I had the battery go faulty and this problem started again (battery was replaced) - had reinstalled Windows on my PC and lost the bookmarks I followed to reset it. Rusty rear wheel arches - as with all 440/460's it needs work on the rear arches, just like my 440 before this 460. Drivers door stop strap seized in door and has pulled the bolted end from the body leaving a hole about 1.5 inches high and 1 inch wide in the door pillar - never got round to sorting this as when it went I'd recently had a operation which meant the door opening wider actually helped me get in and out. Passenger side spotlight insecure in its holder Passenger side front wheel bearing needs replacing (new bearing comes with car - not genuine Volvo part but not cheap rubbish either) 6 CD changer in boot not attached or ever tested as car has a removable front single CD (JVC) radio/CD player installed. Light scratches across front of bonnet and onto drivers side wing not as deep as primer would probably buff out. Scratches on drivers side of roof above door near front where I forgot to put the bolt holding the roof bar on before sliding an 8x4 piece of MDF onto the bars - the bar scratched the paintwork three or four scratches to primer so will need to be painted or touched up. Various age related dings and marks, she is 19 years old after all. So she needs TLC and I will honestly be sad to see her go and I really hope she goes to someone with the passion to put her back to her original showroom condition. I've tried to list everything but please do come and look before buying, I'm in Sheffield. If you show me a valid driving licence and matching valid insurance certificate showing your insured to drive other cars, and let me take a picture or note down details, then I have no problem with test drives (with me in the car too) - sorry to be pedantic but its my licence too if I allow someone to drive uninsured. If you bend her you've bought her too. First to see will probably buy, first £400 will buy her and all the bits as listed above. |

Cheers Dave.
Pics worked, can't use the Photobucket link though, as I'm on the phone and it never loads Photobucket properly, preferring me to use their app instead so they can bombard me with adverts! Ok, well I was looking for an auto really. Personally, I prefer a manual, but it would be for Mrs Sideways to replace her current daily - the last 460 CD Turbo auto on the UK's roads, which would be coming off the road for a rebuild. Nevertheless, I would still be interested. I may bob over at weekend, if that would be ok? I may bring my mate, who does my bodywork for me, to have a butcher's at the arches/cills as unfortunately, that's going to be the make or break for me. Cheers, Steve

Yes that will be fine, I'll hold off advertising it anywhere else so you can have a good look, and decide.
I don't think I can send my details by pm, but you probably can, so if you want to pm me your mobile number I'll text you my address. All I ask is that you let me know a day and rough time, so I'm not waiting in all weekend, and if you decide not to bother looking please let me know asap so I can list it on gumtree and eBay. Regards, Dave. |

Missing it on n off more than I've missed some of my exes when they went! Look after her and I hope she's as good for you and your family as she's been to me these last 3 year's.
Was good to meet you n Craig Steve. Craig's V70 is a credit to him and one awesome Volvo. Keep doing it sideways All the best to you both, Dave |
