Default Windscreen washer problem - solved

Just for information really as I did a search here last week and couldn't find any info about this problem.

The right hand screen washer nozzle had reduced to a mere dribble. A bit of troubleshooting revealed that, when the pipes were pulled out of the nozzles and placed into a jar, the water was getting to the t-piece non-return valve for the left nozzle but none was passing straight through that t-piece to get to the right nozzle.

OK, new non-return t-piece sourced on the interweb for a few pounds. Arrived a couple of days later and fitted to the pipe, water now passing freely through the t-piece so everything reassembled, left nozzles working fine but still no right nozzles!

So a right angle non return valve was also ordered and again a few days passed. That arrived yesterday and I fitted it today, pleased to report everything's working again.

So I can only conclude that both of the little valves had failed! Sounds like a bit of a coincidence but perhaps the failure of one had caused the failure of the other. Never mind, all fixed now and for less than a tenner, but it did confuse me for a little while so I thought I'd share the tale in case it can help anyone else.

Check that you have no gunk in your washer bottle which is gunking up and jamming the valves. Maybe doing a flush with hot (near boiling) water and the hose off at the t-junction, pumping into a bucket, might not be a bad idea... you'll also see the gunk, if any...
