Where to get after market parts installed for XC40 Recharge?
Hi all,
I recently got a 2021 XC40 Recharge Twin. It's ex-demo from the Dealer, so I didn't get a chance to choose the trim, and it is the Core level. While I love the car to drive, I really want to add Parking Cameras, Front Parking Sensors, and to a lesser extent heated seats after-market. When I bought the car the dealer implied it was possible to add these, but after the sale they have not been forthcoming about recommending a company that can install these parts for me - or explaining if it affects my warranty at all. I made vague queries with one other company, I think it was called Car Communications or something, and they said they don't use genuine Volvo parts - which I was really hoping to get. So my question to you is: Does anyone have a recommendation for a company (I'm based in Warwickshire) that can install these after market parts? Thanks -Ian |

I’m a bit confused by your post saying it’s a 2021 Core model. I’m no expert on trim levels, but I thought the Core model was only introduced earlier this year. In 2021, the trim levels were Momentum, Inscription and R Design (with Pro trim on each level giving more extras).
Volvo always offered an array of dealer fitted accessories, but I’ve just had a quick look on-line at it appears that they’ve significantly reduced this. I’ve had front sensors and rear cameras fitted by Volvo dealers in the past, so it’s definitely physically possible. However, the software had to be updated for them to work so had to be done by a dealer. If your XC40 is a 2021 model with Sensus software then it can be upgraded, but will have to be with Volvo components. If Volvo have decided to no longer offer these upgrades, then you’re stumped. It’s worth having a chat with another dealership. There are also some good independent Volvo garages who might be more helpful.

Apologies, I’ve just realised your XC40 is a pure EV, in which case you can’t retrofit a rear camera (probably to do with the wiring route and position of batteries). If you google the camera part number it has a foot note stating excl. Pure Electric.

That's sad - thanks very much for the info anyway. I'd like to push back on the dealer that promised me it was possible, but I'm not sure it will get me anywhere.
