Here are the costs for the belts (from FRF and thanks as always to Simon).
Seems like it's worth doing both at the same time!
My project for next month I now think.

Timing Belt Kit: [31258305]
Retail Price £115.15 / Our Price £80.61
- This Kit includes: Timing belt, Tensioner and Idler

AND / OR:

Auxiliary Belt: [30731861]
Retail Price £35.96 / Our Price £25.17

Postage:
£10.00 DHL 48 (Guaranteed 2 working day service, from time of dispatch)
NOTE: If only auxiliary belt then this would be replaced by Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded Delivery at £2.99

all done and no more squeaks!

Attached picture of new 'stretchy' belt (they change the aircon belt and top pulley to a fixed pulley within the price).

Thanks Clan for the advice.

Hi all,

this is a great thread.

Thanks for the details on the belts/kits.

I was thinking of doing this job myself.
Is the belt arrangement shown in this "How To" valid for the 1.8 and 2.0 S40 Petrol?

http://www.fordwiki.co.uk/index.php/...er_replacement

Do I need 2 belts or just 1?

C.
