Default Had it, billed it, still paying for it!

I recollect shelling out something like that for a 6yr service, think I've still got some of it hanging around on my credit card now!

Wish I'd known about this forum back then as I would have undertaken most, if not all, of the work myself.

Mr Main Dealer if you're gonna f#(k us, let's have some foreplay 1st.

When I looked into the whole 8th vin character thing, it appeared not be as simple as just what the 8th character was. It was also dependant on the preceding number. At least this was true of the D5. If memory serves, if the preceding number was 77, then even if the 8th character was a 4, then there actually was a DPF. However, if the preceding number was, I think, 73 or 75 and the eighth character was a four, then no DPF. This checked out on a couple of D5s I looked at.

ALL D5 have a particle filter , the 8th VIN is for 1.6 D and 2.0D which engine and character do you have? the whole VIN will do...

Ah, interesting. Thanks, Clan. I was led to believe that some D5s didn't have a DPF. That would explain why all the ones I looked at had one! Even Volvo UK seem a confused by all this. It's academic for me because I ended up buying a 2.4i.

Also - top up your washer fluid, cool, PAS fluid (check the levels are all good) bet you they will try and rip you for those, and you can see their faces when you tell them you double checked all of them just prior to the service, and you'd like to see the manager.
Monkey - This is absolute genius, I have a new service protocol
