I hope that this is not old ground - I am new to this forum so forgive me if this topic has been discussed before. My 2005 V50 2.0D failed to start for no apparent reason. It had never given a problem before. Got it started by Green Flag, took it to a Volvo workshop who said that they cleaned up the bit that sends the message to 'start' from the key to the starter motor and it "...should be alright, it may never happen again". Does anyone else have experience of this? Not very handy when that happens and it would be nice to avoid a repeat.

What do they mean by the "bit" that sends the message. I have had a problem on my car, same year and model; where you put the ket in and no start. Remove key, wipe it, reinsert and all okay.

Has happened twice in 8 months. Doesnt concern me.
