Default Fuel Gauge Shenanigans after Mixing Diesel/V-Power Diesel

Hey guys, 2009 Volvo V50 owner.

This week I accidentally put £30 of Diesel V-Power premium in my car instead of the regualar cheap supermarket diesel I use - there was no label on the fuel pump in the petrol station. My car is diesel so this isn't a problem per se. I then let my fuel get to about 30% full before completely filling the tank with regular diesel.

Since then I've driven about 100 miles but my fuel tank is currently showing that I only have about 10% fuel but then also wildly fluctuates between 20% and 60%. Even parked up and stationary I can see the needle moving back and forth. It goes from 40 to 60 then back to 40 and then back up to 60. I now have no idea how much fuel there is in my tank, but based on the fact I only did about 100 miles from full, I should imagine there's half a tank

What on earth is going on? Is the mixing of diesels causing this or is it just a coincidence and likely my fuel tank sensors are failing?

Its nothing to do with the diesel. That is mere coincidence that is now misguiding you.

Looks like a fuel sender problem.
