Outrageous or Pointless
Obviously it’s not pointless, perhaps hard for some to see the point others may nod in approval... however I don’t really care!
I’ve been trying to help Jeremy Clarkston since I got the v50.... I think I was sucessfull... he said “you just never hear anyone saying look at that driving like an idiot in the volvo” Anyway... I got a c30 a couple weeks ago and I like the little thing, sorry I love it. But, like anything there is downsides it simply doesnt have the powah required. (1.6D) 😢 Fortune has smiled though and my wifes looking to get a newer one to replace her s40 (2.0D) so my intentions are to run it and go nuts with the c30! 😂 I have access to a complete but accident damaged c30 with T5 engine my thoughts are fit the T5 BUT! I want to make it 4wd as in impreza 4wd What donor car would I need to look towards for the rear diff set up etc? would a v40 cross country be ideal ( I know floorpans etc but they are the simple bits to fabricate) I want an all singing sideways absolute bonkers bus... and this would be the ultimate sleeper.

http://www.c30crew.com/mainsite/?page_id=531 I think if I keep the C30 A long time and anything expensive goes pop like the engine and gearbox, I'll be sourcing a T5. |

+1 to above, had been done in US but it is a LOT of effort.
V50AWD is probably easiest to swap from, but you need everything including CEM and wiring. Not sure you can use V40CC as donor but maybe Im wrong, V50AWD would be much closer match but will be very hard to find one. You may look around at Fords aswelll - maybe something from Kuga 2.5L 4x4 can be used? I also know someone with Focus modified to 4x4 using gen3 Haldex and parts from V50AWD so yea, anything is possible, just require skills money and time. another question is to swap T5 onto your C30... that may be actually harder than adding AWD to T5C30.... btw - bear in mind - even with Gen3 Haldex you will get nowhere close to Impreza or Quattro capabilities. Its Haldex, not Torsen, will never work like fun-driftcar and may dissapoint you if you are expecting scooby's capabilities :/

I think it's an excellent project by why reinvent the wheel, the best approach has been done, cleanly. If you want to do it, follow their path. |

the link indeed contain valid info but its no harm to provide extra info if someone asks - OP doesnt have T5 C30, as in the link so he is also in different position, swapping T5 engine onto "normal" car is not as straightforward. Also finding donor car in this part of the world is MUCH harder than on other side of the globe where AWD cars even in S40 flavour are just lying around on scrapyards. So maybe lets all provide some more feedback for OP to choose from and decide rather than just "follow this step by step or dont do anything" approach?

Lots of good starter points here. thank you all.
I’ve been looking at quaiffe boxes, zf boxes etc as well as Kaaz diffs. Expensive is mild 😂 It more than likely (should it cone to fruition in all likelihood it will be caged.. and at that point it’s rude not to get it’s rac logbook or whatever msa call it now 😂 But thats a year or two away yet! I have undertook similar projects many years ago I built a mk3 astra gsi using cavy 4x4 gear which had limited sucess and subsequently huge failure... driver wasn’t properly mapped 😂🙈

Love it. It is a slippery slope... A neighbour of mine had started to convert his mk2 golf (running a mk4 golf 1.8t) to a AWD. I love the thought of the C30 being AWD with a nice tuned T5 engine. It sounds very appealing
