I am currently looking for an 1800ES. Does anyone know of a good one with no corrosion problems for sale? Preferably any colour except gold, orange or yellow.

Cool Blue 1800ES

There is a very nice looking blue one on e-bay right now. I was tempted but have an Amazon, a Rover 110 and a Rover P5B Coupe to tend already.

Thanks for this Geoff but I did look at that one several weeks ago, see my posts on this thread:-

It does look good in the photos but up close there are lots of areas with corrosion so I'm still looking.

Rust free 1800es's are few and far between.

I waited about 5 years for mine to come along. And it's gold.

Yesterday I agreed to buy Simon Good's ES. Despite originally saying I didn't want a gold one I decided I was being too picky so a gold one is what I'll be getting. Simon has done an amazing job of restoring her & I shall be going south again to collect her soon. Just got to shuffle things about in the garage to make room.

That's great news. The 1800es is a very rewarding car to own if you find a good one.

It would be nice to see photos but all in good time.

Thanks Eagerbeaver, click on this link to my other thread:-

You will find a post by b20e (Simon) with a link to lots of photos of his restoration of her, also one of her painted red before restoration & some of her when finished.

You were quite correct in saying that a car would find me, this one did.
I am going to collect her tomorrow, a 350 mile round trip.

I have one for sale, put it in the forum ad last Year November. It has a bit of corrosion, it's difficult to find one without, but have a look or send me a message. Or call me under : 0791 9310830.

Default 1800ES wanted

Hi Rover 95,

I have a 1972 1800ES which I am thinking of selling. I bought it about 6 years ago thinking it needed a bit of work and gave it to Tony Barratt. It ended up having a very large amount of work done, eg one new door, one new wing, inner and outer cills complete re-paint, new unleaded cylinder head, electronic ignition new shocks etc etc. It was then on the volvo stand at the classic car show, that would have been I think 5 years ago. It has not been kept in cotton wool but used regularly and it has just been at Motorline in Sussex to have a bit of a smarten up. I'm collecting it this coming Friday.

There should be nothing wrong with it.

It is not a concours car but a good sound car and the interior is original but good.

If you are interested let me know and give me an e.mail address and I'll let you have some pictures.

Robert
