S40 (New) Electrics : - A Cautionary Tale!!!

Some time ago, I managed to hit a wood pidgeon with my S40. Stupid bird flew out of the verge straight in front of me, as is their wont.
Loud bang, feathers and etc everywhere. BLAST, I thought, that sounds like the front bumper, but when I found a safe place to stop, I could see no damage, so carried on. Further on, I thought I could hear a sort of rattle at times, so on getting home, investigated further to find the nearside foglight loose on one side. Removed trim and took the two screws out removed foglight to find that its held by the two aforementioned screws on one side, and two plastic pegs on the other, or in my case not, as the pegs had vanished, presumably as a result of birdstrike. Thinks.. wonder how much foglight is from local friendly Ovlov dealer... temp repair called for, so carefully drilled a hole in the centre of the two marks where two plastic pegs had broked, and screwed in a brass screw into each, then cut heads off screws... behold two brass pegs.. Fitted light back to car no problem..looks fine, no rattles, should be ok.
Yesterday I noticed that this foglight was not working. More rude words, check light, no fogging or anything, must be the bulb, probably got shaken up. Buy new bulb from Hellfords, go through whole procedure of getting trim off etc, only to discover,,,,,,,,,, the wiring for the lamp hanging limply behind the unit.
WHO had forgotten to reconnect the wiring? WHO had neglected to test the damn lamp!! Who now has a spare foglight bulb @ £10.99 in the glovebox??

Moral of the story is... TEST the thing when you've put it back!!

Can I put myself up for the Pratt of the Forum award?
