EGR Delete 1.6D
Hi guys, is there anyone that can recommend a good place to get my EGR deleted around Colchester / Essex? I’ve spoke to a few people but are turning out to be fairly unreliable.
I can travel upto 2 hours, any advice is helpful. |

You are not allowed to by law tamper with your emissions control systems
Removing the EGR is an instant MOT fail And illegal And immoral, as you push out more pollutants Don't do it.

Why do you want to? Putting aside the very valid points already mentioned which I echo, It is there for a reason.

I'm guessing for these reasons but I wouldn't bother. Mot headache and killing the planet more.

Unsure of whether or not it would flag a fault code up but on my V50 2.0D on an 05 plate I blanked my egr off. Simply cut a plate the size of the outlet from exhaust to inlet pipe, drilled two
holes for the bolts. Removed the two 10mm bolts holding the pipe in situ and simply sandwiched the plate between them. Same as I have done for EVERY single car I have owned with egr. And I will be blanking the c30 1.6D that I now have as well in due course! Very simple to do this yourself. Additional note for those who may feel compelled to jump back onto their soapboxes and itterate how bad I am, how mot fail-tastic or how nasty I am, there is no need to as I will merely direct thee to -DILLIGAF. |

The EGR is a pollution trade off, lower NOX, but higher Soot Particles. With a DPF, the second problem is also addressed. In older high mileage non DPF engines, the EGR can actually make pollution worse. On my 1.6Hdi Berlingo (same engine as the C30 etc), I blanked the EGR to stop soot clogging the engine. On the Berlingo, blanking the EGR triggers a 'silent' diagnostic code but no MIL & it's impossible to see the blanking plate & probably reduced emissions in the smoke test so it's MOT firendly & probably IMHO environmentally friendly as less soot gets into the air.
I've just bought a C30 1.6D with 110k miles and have considered blanking the EGR but am not sure if the fault code that this will trigger will affect the DPF regen process. I'll need to get hold of the DICE hardware to check that out. |
