Service cost query
Does anyone know the rough price I should be paying for a 60k service for an 07MY xc90 d5 from a stealer or would an independent be a better option?

I went Indy, was about £260 v £400 + the dealer wanted. Coupled with, a Change of rear discs / pads, I 'saved' IRO £350.
Just went thro' an MOT with the same Indy at 60k for £50. The main dealer took £750 for the same privilege last year. Maybe i was just unlucky last year (was in the process of buying the car, so only took half the hit on that). |

If the car was first registered in the later half of 2006 it will be coming up to the 6th year 108k CAMBELT service .

It had its final three year dealer service in March 2010 at 54000 miles but missed last years service due to my ill health. Do you have any experience of Cardiff volvo Clan or would you recommend Abergavenny?

How does this service interval thing work?
Just bought a new XC90 and this will be the first car we've owned that is likely to reach the 12 monthly cycles before the mileage cycle (18,000). In other words, we will do less than 18,000 miles a year. Do they do everything after a year that they would have done at 18,000? And after 2 years, everything that they would have done at 36,000 (even though it will only have done 20 to 25,000 miles)? What about things like cambelts, that usually get replaced at a set mileage? |

Volvo XC90 Servicing
Mine gets done yearly or 10,000 miles whichever comes first.
so no more than 12 months/10,000 miles between services. This is probably OTT but mine gets a bashing and it's easy to remember.

The service interval is based on mileage OR annual, whichever comes first.Just bear in mind that servicing at the dealer will give you the free software upgrades and a Year road side assistance, worth paying extra for IMHO

Cardiff volvo are an all new estalishment , But Abergavenny are a family business have been established for decades with little staff turnover and give an outstanding service ... you will need the extras from the missed 72000 service added on i would think ..

I'd go by age if I were you. Things like the cambelt, antifreeze, brake fluid and oils are still subject to age related issues as well as wear so time is a factor even if the car isn't being used.
