It' only a number!
Sorry to spoil things, but I just turned 60 two weeks ago, have owned the XC90 for seven years. However, I still ride my Ducati 998 on track days and compete in Triathlons. Be proud of yourself, my 30 'something' son and daughter and their youngsters love the car.

I bought my first Volvo 25 years ago when I was 31, and have always had at least 1 Volvo in the household ever since. My son bought an S40 when he was 19.

I'm 35 and pick up my 2007 XC90 3.2 SE tomorrow, so not that old yet!
I'd been seriously considering a 2007 BMW X5 3.0si, and when I mentioned to the sales manager that the XC90 was also a possibilty, he looked at me and said "your far too young for that" TBH, prior to that comment i'd never really been exposed to the 'old mans image' of Volvos, just the "Big and boxy, but safe" idea. I've got 5 BMW's and 1 Merc (all 70's and 80's models) and my wife has a Toyota Avensis, so the XC90 should be the perfect family car (2 kids and another on the way) - As mentioned previously, trying to pack a car to go away for 1 day - 2 weeks with camping equipment and two kids (and all their toys) is like playing a very stressful version of jenga and I hate it (especially repacking to get home), so the XC90 could/should be perfect! |

The one I test drove was never reset and showed 21mpg average. The owner did mainly longer journeys with it on B roads and motorways...

Wow, worse than my T5. I think LPG would be the only option for me.

You want the V8 then mine used to do 26 mpg easily if driven gently and even the 'normal' average with mixed driving was 22. Ive since changed to a 200hp D5 exec and only just get 30!!!

Picked it up from Taunton, and drove it back to Edinburgh on approx £95-100 petrol.
The OBC said 22.3mpg when I left Taunton and by the time I got back to Edinburgh it had risen to 24.6mpg. One of the most stress-free 415 mile journeys I've completed, what a smooth, powerful car. No matter how expensive petrol gets, I would never buy a diesel. |
