Default v60 Boost pressure sensor keeps failing.

Hi,

My boost pressure sensor went south the other month (43K). I had a momentary power dip at about 2k while accelerating and the fault showed up on the computer as 'over boost'.

The sensor was changed about two months ago and the problem instantly went away.

Now the early symptoms are starting to show up again like they did before, Just a hint of power loss that one can dismiss as a one off. But now I know what to look for, I know what's coming!!

The old sensor I put in the bin had a slight oily deposit all over it. I removed the new sensor that had been in 8 weeks or so, and it also had a slight oil film on it, not quite as much but oil never the less! I washed it in parts cleaner and the power blip 'seems' to have gone for now on a very short test drive.

Does anybody know if oil on this sensor is normal, or have I had bad luck and bought a duff new boost pressure sensor?

If it's clogging up if/when the problem returns then you can try carb cleaner to see if it fixes it, but if the problem keeps returning then it's deeper than the MAP, although I do have a spare if it comes to you needing one.

Thank you.

The problem is coming back after I cleaned the sensor with cleaner as I wrote in the OP. With this in mind, what could have gone wrong some where else?

Thanks.

I think there is more than 1 boost sensor for a start, has it been read using Vida to show what the actual problem is and which sensor is faulty? Is the car remapped? Does it have a boost leak?

Also oil deposit on the sensor is ok, its normal.

As said above, oily crud on the sensor is normal, it should still work despite the oil film.
