Hi all as in the title i have an error message anti skid service required i've been reading alot about these cars on various forums before i decided to buy mine an 02 v70 t5 and now this message has come up i've cleaned the abs sensors which where clean but i cleaned them anyway with some brake cleaner and a soft cloth and i still have the message, the other day the message went out and my abs worked but came back on about 10 minutes later and has been on ever since, what else could it be?

Get the codes read on a proper Volvo scanner (VIDA/DICE).
Its guess work otherwise and you will throw good money after bad.

Ain't expensive yet
Hello, There's no "stupidly hoping" involved. Your problem could be a simple part. You just need to learn which one. DTC's will help and keep the cost down. Kira

I take it you didn't see any splits/cracks or excessive corrosion on the abs sensor rings? Mine came off in 3 pieces, about the same age as yours... easy and cheap fix though?!

Loose driveshaft bolts will produce ABS error. Pop the wheel centre caps off and check the bolt isn't rattling around inside.

I have a 2005 XC70. I had the same message come up which within minutes changed to. Anti skid temporary disabled. Panic mode sent in. I then had a good look around the car and checked tyre pressures. Both drivers side tyres were down by 6 psi. Pumped up all tyres to 30psi and computer rectified itself after short drive around block. Worth a try.???
