Default Exhausted!

I've just had a bespoke exhaust system made up for my 144 from a firm just outside Bristol, http://www.infinity-exhausts.co.uk

Due to a petrol tank guard, mine now runs straight out after crossing the rear axle rather than doing the 90 degree turn into a box and appearing on the nearside.

Still a twin box with skid plates, all stainless steel, lifetime guarantee, looks totally standard to the uninitiated, sounds great and £330 inc VAT fully fitted.

Nice people as well!!

Hi all and Snowman!

Thanks for the info. Speaking of the exhaust, what is the opinion of running the old seperate twin intake manifold with the late fuel injected manifold? I know the GT kit included the fuel injection exhaust manifold along with the Solex down draught carb kit. I am tempted to try this beacuse I have heard that the fuel injection manifold is in some cases better than the performance branch that came with the racing kits.

Also, can anyone recommend a better needle for the Stromberg carb in twin format. I'm currently running a standard needle and I think its probably a bit conservative!

Thanks
Dylan

If it's a late model 140, the exhaust part of integrated int/exh manifold (ie. with the slightly larger dual downpipes than the earlier ones) is the same internally as the FI version.

Unless you have one of those stupid US-spec manifolds with secondary butterflies (thank god we never got them downunder !) I have never heard a really good reason why the separate alloy intake manifold is better than the cast iron one ... unless you are running extractors of course. One potential problem is heat soak I guess, but that's easy fixed with phenolic spacers, if it's a problem.
