T5 revs not dropping - also posted on the 8 s
I have recently bought a 1996 T5. Very pleased, but a small query.
I have noticed that the revs do not drop off quickly - indeed, when approaching a corner in (say) third and coming off the throttle, the car simply continues at the same speed - no engine braking. Occasionally, when changing up, the revs actually increase when I dip the clutch, before then reducing again. Sounds like a sticking throttle, but I have tried WD40 etc. Is this normal? Any thoughts? Many thanks R |

Could it be a dirty throttle body sticking open rather than (as usual) sticking closed and stopping the car?
Apart from that, I'd keep on with the WD40 on anything that moves in the throttle path and make and break any relevant electrical connectors to ensure that decent current flow is occurring. |

Thanks for the messages.
The consensus appears to be that a little of this is normal, and if it isn't, then it is hard to fix. Time to get used to it, I think. Thanks Richard |
