Default Why do this ?

Hi Folks,

I think this is what happens when a Nova boy gets an 850.

Horrible isn't it ?

If you look back in the archives you will see that this particular car has featured in the forums before and drew the same amount of ridicule then. Ain't it 'orrible though. I hope he doesn't bring it to Gaydon.

All the best, Peter.

We should watch what we say - the guy found our discussion last time, and it wasnt pretty!!!

I swear that cars got worse though...there ought to be laws against some of what he's done!!!

cheers

James

HI Guys,

I have to say the person who owns that car must have a lot of money to spend. It does look an expensive conversion.

I on the other hand would like to know if you can get lexus style lights for a v70 estate classic?

Pros: I like the body Kit, might seem in your face, but if you imagine it without the spoiler and the bonnet vent. It will seem nicer. I however do like the front bottom splitter, that seems very different.

Cons: The spoiler is too much, the bonnet vent is massive. I wonder what he is running under the bonnet. The lights and the grill seem that they don't match.

Personal opinions are just in my case, I don't mean to offend the owner or anyone who dissagrees with me. I guess I am just used to seeing the volvos as nice clean looking cars.

Overall imagine the car without the spoiler. You will appreciate it better. I think we should give credit to the person who has put his time in for carrying out something different to his volvo. It certainly is different.

Again I hope I havn't upset anyone with my comments.

Cheers

Roy

Agreed that the front bumper / splitter is actually pretty nice - just the rims / spoiler / bonnet...er...thing ruin it. Take a look at the side-on view - that bumper is neat.

I perhaps the worst bit is the lights & grille - the lights are the wrong shape, and the grille is ruined by having a cut-up old volvo badge accross it.

I think that's perhaps my frustration - its nearly very good, but some bits are OTT (spoiler, bonnet scoop), while other are just a bit tasteless (front lights & grille).

the lexus lights are very rare - a custom job? either way, the back is pretty good, save the spoiler, and the exhast pipes, which are a bit too 'showy'.

Ditto Roy's points about no offence meant - its constructive critcism we're offering, if youre listening 'American Grafiti'!

cheers

James

I've never seen the point in doing all this body work, with my spit I've modded the engine brakes, gearbox, diff, suspension etc etc - it's now quite a bit fatser than a standard spitty - but if you look at it it still looks standard, so nobody knows that you have a rocket. Planning on a T4 next year, and the only outside mod I am planning is to debadge it (I might even put a 1.8 or 2.0 badge there instead) it's not the looks that count it's the g's when you floor it!

Chat later

I think the idea is to create an object of art - one of the most extreme fiestas out there is a standard 1.8 non-turbo diesel!

cheers

surely the art comes from being pinned to the seat when you plant your foot down or am I just being a boy racer?

I know which I'd rather have :)

I plan one day to make a 'styled' car, but my first project will be a 360 turbo - 0-60 in 6s, 0-100 in 12, 150mph tops, from a B230ET (740 turbo motor - 200+ BHP)....and it looks so....'retired'!

cheers

James
